The group Watercolor Artists of Oyster Bay is holding a silent auction and print and placemat sale to benefit Ukraine, which Russia invaded on Feb. 24 this year and has since shelled relentlessly as tens of thousands of Russian troops have poured into the land of sunflowers.
The sunflower is Ukraine’s national flower, and appropriately enough, members of Watercolor Artists of Oyster Bay have painted sunflowers in a variety of incarnations for this fundraiser.
The silent auction of paintings will be held at the Planting Field Arboretum in Oyster Bay, a state park, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Aug. 31.
Gliceé prints or placements of the sunflower paintings may be purchased by scanning the QR code below or at theimagestoreusa.com. Prints and placements are selling for $100, with $50 of proceeds going to the World Relief Organization, specifically for Ukraine relief.
Watercolor Artists of Oyster Bay meet weekly in the Greenhouse Classroom at Planting Fields Arboretum under the instruction of Roberta Erlagen.
