When 17-year-old Abby Brennan started her freshman year of high school, she had not planned to join the robotics club. In fact, she didn’t know what STEM stood for. Four years later, the Smithtown East High School senior now lives and breathes Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and has impacted her community through her work. Serving as president of her school’s competitive robotics team for the last two years, she prepares students for the annual regional competition that takes place at Hofstra University.

When she is not building robots, Brennan aims to inspire other young women who are passionate about STEM by planning discussions with female STEM professionals and starting a Girls Who Code chapter in Smithtown. Although the aspiring aerospace engineer has an impressive list of accomplishments, her eyes are set on her love for robotics and passion to uplift others in her community.
