With early voting under way in New York State since Saturday, Long Islanders can vote now through the general election on Nov. 5. Many, however, are unaware of the process that comes with early voting.

In comes Elijah Fischer. Fischer is a public policy major at Hofstra University, and also a civil servant during the election season. He works as a Nassau County poll worker, assisting voters with casting their ballots. Poll working is a tough job, according to Fischer, facing early days and late nights. But it is rewarding, highlighting Fischer’s sense of pride behind assisting Nassau County residents in voting.

In this interview, WRHU’s Camryn Bowden, Ashley Blum, Gabrielle Yanovitz, Alex Hoy and Matt Fisher chat with Fischer, who spoke about his experiences as a poll worker and explained how to early vote in Nassau , vital information for many locals who are interested in casting their ballots early for the Presidential Election and down-ballot races.
