In honor of Black History Month in February, the Town of Hempstead will hold a virtual town hall event on “Black Health and Wellness” on Friday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m.

Hempstead Senior Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby, a Democrat from Hempstead, is hosting the talk, featuring guest speaker Dr. Brian Harper, the New York Institute of Technology’s president for equity and inclusion and its chief medical officer.

In the days leading up to the talk, Hofstra’s WRHU radio reporters Daniel Gall and Amelia Sack sat down with Goosby to hear her thoughts on Black History Month, celebrated every year in February since 1976.

The virtual town hall can be viewed on YouTube and Facebook Live at HempsteadNY.gov. Links to the town’s YouTube and Facebook pages can be found on the top of the toolbar of Hempstead’s website.
