Famed rhythm-and-blues artist Smokey Robinson took the stage at The Paramount in Huntington March 6 as a part of his Legacy Tour, proving why he is a legend in the music industry.

At 85, Robinson gave a soulful, energetic performance, showing the timeless power of his voice and stage presence. Robinson’s song list included classics such as “Cruisin,” “Being with You,” and “Tracks of My Tears.” His connection with the crowd was noticeable, proving his music and style extend multiple generations.

Attendees sang along to the music as Robinson delivered hit after hit with the same charisma that has defined his career. Some concertgoers stood up while others sat quietly. Between songs, Robinson spoke with the crowd, sharing stories from his Motown days and his time with legends like Stevie Wonder. His ability to connect on a personal level made the performance feel intimate. It was this distinctive touch that left many attendees feeling as though they had experienced more than a concert; it was a special night of Robinson sharing himself with fans.

“It was something that was a part of my whole life and it was in my backyard, so I wanted to see Smokey,” said Dee Cee, a New York Sports Club employee from West Babylon and longtime fan.

“It means a lot to me just working here,” said East Northport resident and event usher Sophia Reuter. “I get a lot of opportunities to see really cool people, but Smokey Robinson is kind of a legend, so it’s very cool to be a part of this.”

Besides the music, what caught fans’ attention was Robinson’s ecstatic energy.

“So much amazement, I couldn’t believe his age. You would think that it’s not true that he’s on tour all year. He’s going from California to London at 85. It’s really amazing, God bless him,” said Ellie Mylonas, a St. Francis Hospital nurse from Greenlawn.

Robinson will continue his legacy tour through Aug. 2.
